Life seems to be measured by time. A birthday signifies the passing of a year. Why isn't life measured by experience and knowledge? Why is it quantity and not quality?
Because 'quality' cannot be measured in universal terms like a year. Measuring a life by quality would, out of necessity, render words like old, old-fart, geezer, fossil and jurassic queer, obsolete.
