It looks easy in the movies!
I have been constructing a rig to have a prop appear to impale an acrtress. Remember kiddies, the easy way is not always the best way!
It's a rather complicated rig for such an easy idea. Just remember when you see it on screen it just may be the real thing!

you need to see the actual act of impaling, or just the results? If it's just the results, you could do what Katherine did in high school: She duct taped half a knife to her chest for a play.
