The Corona Project Cover-Up

The Corona Program was a mission to deploy satellites in order to spy on the rest of the world. Mainly Russia in order to gain knowledge on their Missile capabilities. To keep the world safe from the truth the Department of Defense created a cover story. The cover story was very elaborate and involved scientists and engineers creating several missions that were never meant to go anywhere. This wasn’t even known to the people working on the mock project. As far as they were concerned they were working on legitimate missions that were to be launched into the earths orbit. The official cover story was a mission called Discoverer.
The Discoverer mission was highly publicized yet never really existed. Here are some of the none existent aspects that were released to the public.

From the NASA website (www.nasa.gov) the following events are still considered to have taken place. All of the following fictitious events took place during the year 1960.

April 15th Discoverer XI launched from Vandenberg AFB and stayed in orbit, Reentry capsule was not recovered.

June 29th Discoverer XII failed to go into polar orbit.

August 10th Discoverer XIII launched successfully into polar orbit.

August 11th First manmade object recovered from and orbiting satellite, the 85 pound instrumented capsule of Discoverer XIII recovered from the ocean off Hawaii after 16 orbits. Silken 50-star American flag it carried was presented to the President on August 15th.

(Very patriotic but a fabrication none the less-SF)
( In reality it brought back the first pictures from space of a Russian military base)

August 18th Discoverer XIV launched into polar orbit from Vandenberg AFB.

August 18th Second time a manmade object was recovered intact from earths orbit and first midair recovery of an object from space, when UASF C-119 transport snared the 300 pound capsule of Discoverer XVI at 10,000 feet, Capt. H.F. Mitchell (UASF) as pilot of the C-119.

September 13th Discoverer XV placed into orbit.

September 14th Recovery of the capsule of Discoverer located from aircraft, but bad weather prevented surface pick up before the capsule sank.

October 26th USAF Discoverer XVI successfully launched with new payload, but failed to go into polar orbit.

November 12th Discoverer XVII placed into polar orbit from Vandenberg AFB, restartable Agenda B second stage successfully flown for the first time.

November 14th Capsule Discoverer XVII ejected after 31 orbits and successfully snared at 9,000 feet by USAF C- aircraft, the second such recovery in midair of a space object.

November 14th (I guess the holidays got the folks in the spin department a little punchy because this is where the real odd bullshit comes in –SF) First letter carried by satellite mail, 31 orbits and a distance of about a million miles. (What kind of stamp do you put on that?-SF) It was a letter from USAF chief staff of the Secretary of the Defense carried in capsule recovered from Discoverer XVII. (Its o.k. to misuse tax dollars in this fashion!)

December 2 Human tissue exposed to heavy radiation during 50-hour flight of recovered Discoverer XVII capsule according to UASF. (Remember this mission was only to take pictures of Russia and any other threat to the U.S. There was only room in the recovery capsules for the 35mm film AND THAT’S IT.-SF)

December 7th Discoverer XVIII launched into polar orbit by new Thor-Agena B from Vandenburg AFB, carrying surveillance equipment (you bet you ass it was-SF) and human tissue (Nope-SF) in recovery capsule.

December 10th 330- pound capsule of Discoverer XVIII caught at 14,000 feet by USAF C-119 crew after making 48 polar orbits. Capsule contained human eye-lid tissue and blood and bone marrow to study the effects of radiation in space. (More hogwash-SF)

December 11th SAM scientists reported that the human tissue recovered from the capsule of Discoverer XVII after about 50 hours and 31 orbits (November 14th), survived radiation in space, including that by one of the largest solar storms ever observed.
(perhaps because it was just sitting in a Colman cooler next to the TV set in the breakroom?)

December 12th Scientist at Brooks AFB reported that the biological specimens including the human eye-lid tissue from the capsule of Discoverer XVIII two days ago, showed far less radiation effects than the specimens recovered from Discoverer XVII in November.
(The must have had the Coleman cooler farther away from the TV in the breakroom-SF)

December 20th Discoverer XIX launched into polar orbit from PMR carrying Project Midas test payload.

The Discoverer cover story was so tight that people working on the mock project thought these fantastic experiments we actually going into orbit. The instruments were actually loaded into the capsule only to be stripped out before launch. The great thing is that the people who were pouring there soul into this lie we actually offered “real” jobs once it became too difficult to maintain the cover story.
If I was one of them…
"Yeah I’d like to work for you since you’ve been lying to me and creating non existent data for me to help humanity. Where do I sign up!"

Or you could just go work for Disney...

They'll make a ride based on a movie they will not release!
Sure Splash Mountain is popular but you'll have a hell of a time trying to vouch for its authenticity compared to the film on which it was based.
